Refresh in place: strengthening a page that is not cited yet

When a page you have published is not being cited yet, the instinct is to write another page about the same topic. That is usually the wrong move: two pages on one question compete with each other, and the safety layer would flag the near-duplicate anyway.

The right move is to make the page you already have stronger. Refresh in place regenerates a more direct, more quotable version of an existing page and updates it at the same address, so there is no duplicate. The rewrite still passes the full safety layer, so it can only ever improve the page, never weaken it.

New pages take time to be discovered and quoted, so a page that is not cited in its first few weeks usually just needs patience. The pages worth refreshing are the ones that have had time and are still not cited, or that score poorly for how answer-first they are. For those, a refresh into a clearer, more direct answer is often what tips an engine into quoting you.
